Are you seeing red over these new Divvy bikes?

That's because there is one new red bike among the 906 blue bicycles part of the Divvy-bike sharing program which launched at the end of June.

Residents and tourists who ride or spot the red bike will be rewarded with prizes under a new campaign to be announced Thursday.

The 25th, 50th, 75th, 100th, 200th and 300th riders who check out the red bike from any of the 110 docking stations in the month of August will get a gift certificate for a free annual Divvy membership or have their accounts credited if they are currently members, said Elliot Greenberger, marketing manager for Divvy.

Users pay $75 for an annual membership or $7 for a daily pass and can in 30-minute increments. Riders incur additional fees after half an hour.

Since hitting the streets on Saturday, the red bike hasn't gone unnoticed as it already had its 25th and 50th riders, according to Divvy.

People who see the red bicycle parked or rolling around the city can win prizes each day this month if they post a photo of the bike with the hashtag #DivvyRed to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.

Prizes include Intelligentsia Coffee gift certificates, a one-night stay at Hotel Felix and IGO and Zipcar memberships

"Mostly (it's) to raise awareness and on top of that it's just kind of fun," Greenberger said. "Using Divvy is a fun way to get around the city and a fun way to commute and this seems like a good way to express that."
