Drivers, beware where you park. Check all the posted signs.
The city's winter overnight parking ban kicks in Sunday. The ban covers 107 miles of arterial streets from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. Dec. 1 through April 1 regardless of snow.
Cars parked on these routes hinder the city from plowing and salting the entire street when it snows. Snow can build up against the cars and reduce traffic flow, the city said.
"Motorists can easily avoid having their vehicles towed by checking signs and following the posted restrictions," Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Charles L. Williams said in a news release.
Car owners who violate the overnight parking ban are subject to a minimum $150 towing fee, $60 ticket, and a storage fee of $20 per day.
Cars will be towed to city pounds either at 10301 S. Doty Ave. or 701 N. Sacramento Ave.
The news release said 301 vehicles were towed last year on Dec. 1 for violating the overnight parking ban.
