Chicago Park District outdoor ice skating rinks are set to open on Friday. But it'll cost skaters to get on the ice this year.

This season, adults will be charged $3 for admission while it is free for children and students with a valid ID. Last year, admission was free at six outdoor rinks.

The "nominal" increase was mentioned in the proposed $425.6 million park budget for 2014 that was released publicly on Friday.

Skate rentals are priced at $6 and adult admission with skate rental is $7. Admission and skate rental for family skate from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday nights is $10 per family.

Ice skating season at the park district's outdoor ice skating rinks sponsored by the Chicago Blackhawks runs through Feb. 23 weather permitting. The rinks also will feature programming such as pick-up hockey games.

Here are locations of the park district rinks. Hours vary so click here for details.
