"Game of Thrones: Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing" aired Sunday before "True Detective," giving fans a sneak peek of the new season which still is two months away on April 6. The upcoming season will cover the second half of "A Storm of Swords," the third book in George R.R. Martin's bestselling "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels. But it also will introduce characters from other novels in the series.
The new season has a tough task following the "Game"-changing Red Wedding from Season 3. (See what I did there?)
"We pick up the pieces and top it in many ways," says Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister.
The nearly 15-minute featurette offered a look at Tyrion's public humiliation, the Purple Wedding of King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), and Daenerys Targaryen's dragons, who are growing larger and more out of control. Other action we see:
Speaking of vengeance. David Benioff, series co-creator with D.B. Weiss, syas "there's tremendous clamor for revenge" in Season 4. Are you ready for more "Game of Thrones?"

- Jon Snow (Kit Harington) prepares to defend the Wall against a Wildling invasion.
- Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), now with the gold hand, struggles to find his place in the kingdom.
- Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) seeks to conquer Slaver's Bay after freeing the slaves of Yunkai.
- Dornish Prince Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal), known as the Red Viper, comes to King's Landing seeking vengeance.
