Bandit robs 4th bank

A bank robber wanted in a string of North Side robberies and dubbed the "Benchwarmer Bandit" struck again this morning for the fourth time this month, FBI officials said.

The latest robbery happened at the Citibank branch, 3128 N. Ashland Avenue, FBI officials said.

The man walked into the bank branch at about 10:10 a.m. and passed a bank teller a note demanding cash, police said. After the teller complied the man fled with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The man is also suspected three other bank robberies: The TCF bank branch, 3531 N. Broadway at 9:45 a.m. on March 16; the TCF bank branch, 4355 N. Sheridan Rd., at 9:02 a.m. on March 21; and the TCF bank branch, 2940 N. Ashland Ave. at 9:37 a.m. on March 24, according to the FBI.

The man is described as Hispanic, with brown hair and brown eyes, between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. He has a slim build and is in his late 20s to early 30s. He was wearing a grey hooded jacket and with facial hair.

FBI officials have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
