Alvin and Quran Guyton, 18, of the 10100 block of South Aberdeen Street, were charged with robbery after police caught them fleeing the La Salle/Van Buren CTA station Sunday afternoon with a stolen cellphone, according to the police report.
Quran Guyton was the brother who allegedly pulled the phone from the hands of its 21-year-old owner while he was riding the train, then fled the train when the doors opened at the station. Several witnesses tried to stop him, the police report said, with one getting grabbed and pushed to the ground by Guyton in the process.
One witness managed to catch him and take the cellphone out of his pocket, the report said, but that man turned out to Alvin Guyton, his twin brother, who then fled the train station with the cellphone.
Both Guytons were brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Monday afternoon and ordered held in lieu of $80,000 bond.
