The movie "Draft Day" hits theaters Friday. It's about how Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner), the fictional general manager of the Cleveland Browns, turns around the franchise. But really, it could easily be about the Bears. How do we know? Because these quotes we pulled from trailers are all too transparent (cough, cough).
"The best thing for the team this season is me."
In the movie: Brian Drew (Tom Welling) pleads his case as the Browns' incumbent quarterback.
In Bears world: Julius Peppers, after the Bears let him go. Or Devin Hester. Or Brian Urlacher. Or
"You see things other people don't see."
In the movie: Ali (Jennifer Garner), supporting her boyfriend, Sonny.
In Bears world: What fans say to Jay Cutler when he throws an interception.
"Yeah I am [out of my mind], haven't I proved that already?"
In the movie: Sonny, to one of his Cleveland scouts.
In Bears world: This is Martellus Bennett's mantra, without a doubt. And the dude owns it.
"You're on Twitter?"
"You're not?"
In the movie: Much to Sonny's surprise, his mother, Barb (Ellen Burstyn), is technologically savvy.
In Bears world: Jay Cutler, who is not on Twitter, probably has this conversation with his teammates daily.
"See what I do from here. You're gonna like this."
In the movie: Sonny, presumably to one of his non-believing Browns colleagues.
In Bears world: Brandon Marshall, after being accepted to a Harvard Business School Executive Education program last week.
"What am I doing here?"
In the movie: Anthony Rizzo. To be honest, we're just guessing that this is his signature line.
In Bears world: That's what all of us are thinking after learning the Cubs first baseman is playing himself in the film in the first place.
