Surprise tots, Chicago.
Thanking the city for its patience after delaying the opening date multiple times, the Sonic at 1022 W. Wilson Ave. in Uptown announced this morning via Facebook that it is open for business immediately.
The opening had been delayed several times, from an original date in January and then again to late March because bad weather conditions affected concrete pouring at the drive-in's location. This is the only Sonic restaurant open in Chicago.
The location's official grand opening is still May 6, when the location plans to give away limited edition "Sonic Chicago" t-shirts to the first 200 customers that show up. It will also hold a drawing for 20 customers to recieve a free combo meal every week for an entire year.
