HBO released the first teaser for "Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways," and Chicago features prominently in the 20-second clip.
Band leader Dave Grohl appears to be hopping on a CTA train and later walking down an "L" stop's stairs. In between, we see Wrigley Field. The docu-series premiering this fall chronicles the recording of the band's eighth studio album in eight legendary studios across the country.
In Chicago, the Foo Fighters recorded at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio Studios, as well as in Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
"This is a musical map of America," Grohl says in the teaser.
Grohl and bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear recorded one song in each city at a legendary studio integral to the history and character of each location and invited local legends to sit in. Grohl didn't add words to tunes until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences and local personalities who became part of the process, including legendary blues man Buddy Guy in Chicago.
"I've pulled up the family tree of American music and exposed its roots to find inspiration for the next Foo Fighters album," says Grohl of the band's album, to be released in November on Roswell/RCA.
