With the announcement of the Riverwest Music Festival, a new EDM-focused event running July 4-6 along the Chicago river at Elston Ave. and Division St., Chicago soon might have to change its name from "The City That Works" to "The City That Asks, "Turn Down for What?"
The new event could clash with the 2014 Wavefront Music Festival if it takes place the same weekend. Wavefront saw its share of controversy when Ald. James Cappleman (46th) attempted to cancel this year's event after the 2013 edition got out of hand. Wavefront organizers 4 Headed Productions said the 2014 event will move from Montrose Beach, but haven't specified where that will be, nor have they confirmed the event's date.
Adding more crossover to the situation, some of the acts on Riverwest's lineup this year (including Sharam and Benoit & Sergio) played Wavefront last year.
Riverwest Music Festival tickets ($149 for a three-day pass; no word on when single day passes will be available) are on sale now. The current lineup for the Riverwest Music Festival is below. Fest organizers have indicated on the event's website that more names will be added to the lineup soon.
