Festiv-Ale 2014

One-off restaurant/brewery collaborations and the debut of a new cidery will be highlights of this year's Festiv-Ale, an annual beer fest and fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event will take place Sept. 12 at Carmichael's on the Near West Side, and tickets go on sale at noon on Tuesday, July 8.

Organizers said beers will include a collaboration between Three Aces chef Matt Troost and Sawyer, Mich.-based Greenbush, paired with a Three Aces dish. Begyle brewers and River North restaurant Bottlefork, who have previously worked on beers together, also will team up for a food-beer collaboration.

Cider fans are in luck, too, as Right Bee Cider will offer Chicago an early taste of its product. The cidery, a partnership between Vice District brewer Charlie Davis and his wife Katie Morgan, hopes to fully launch this summer.

Additional participating breweries-most of them local-include 5 Rabbit (brewing a special one-off for the event), Ale Syndicate, Forbidden Root, Goose Island, Lagunitas, Revolution, Rock Bottom, Temperance, Marz Brewing and more. Tickets are $65 or $100 for VIPs, which includes a whole pig roast from Frontier and Sunda. Check Festiv-Ale's website for more information on the live music, silent auctions and other entertainment.
