Building your perfect Khaleesi or King Joffrey ensemble just got a whole lot easier-the racks at Saturday's Lyric Opera costume sale will be fully stocked with doublets and regal gowns for purchase, as well more than 3,000 other Halloween-ready pieces and accessories from years of the company's productions.
The sale, the company's first since selling its Pilsen warehouse in 2004, will offer up intricate costumes from Lyric operas including "The Mikado,""The Pirates of Penzance,""The Flying Dutchman" and more at prices ranging from $1 up to $200.
"There's something for everyone's budget," Lyric's costume director Maureen Reilly said. "When we were anticipating who's going to come to the sale, we don't really know, but there definitely will be people coming to look for Halloween costumes because Halloween is around the corner, but there are also theatrical groups or church groups or schools that have a theater program that might want to add some costumes to their collection."
Reilly gave RedEye a sneak peek of the merchandise that will fill the Civic Opera House's Rice Foyer this weekend-and even let us try on a few things.
