Seven people, including two 15-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl, have been charged in a machete attack on the Kedzie Brown Line CTA platform in Albany Park, police said.

The seven attacked a 17-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man on the platform in the 4600 block of North Kedzie Avenue at 12:35 a.m. Monday after asking them to flash gang signs, police said.

The two refused, saying they were not in a gang, and Mario Elvira, 18, pulled out a machete and struck the 26-year-old in the head, cutting his head and neck, police said.

He and the others fled but were arrested a short time later, police said.

The 26-year-old was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.

Elvira, of the 5300 block of West Foster Avenue, Jean Salvatierra, 23, of the 4800 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, Kevin Ramirez, 19, of the 1300 Block of West Rosedale Avenue, and Kevar Preston, 20, of the 3600 block of West Cullom Avenue were each charged with robbery, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and trespassing on CTA property.

One of the juveniles was also charged with aggravated assault and trespassing on CTA property. The other underage boy and the girl were charged with trespassing on CTA property.

Elvira and Preston were ordered held on $450,000 bail, while Ramirez and Salvatierra were ordered held on $250,000 bail, according to court documents.
