In the recently released "NHL 15," you can score spectacular goals with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Or make mind-blowing saves with Corey Crawford. But even they can't be in on every play in the game.

Not the case for Eddie Olczyk. The Blackhawks announcer-along with occasional NBC broadcast partner Mike "Doc" Emrick-recently signed on to lend his voice to the series, starting with this year's edition.

For all you young hockey players out there, getting your voice featured on a well-known franchise takes more than talking one's ear off.

What was the process like for you and Doc on becoming the new voices of the NHL series?

It was a long process. We put in a lot of time, there were some long days, but we had a bunch of laughs and got to talk a lot of hockey. The EA Sports team was amazing to work with.

Becoming a voice on an iconic series had to be stressful. What background or history did you have on the game series?

I've known of the game for a long time. I have seen a lot of the games over the years.

Do your kids or even yourself remember playing as yourself on the video game?

I have three boys and a daughter. They've played it. They think I am cool, for a bit anyways. [Laughs.] Yes, they played [the video game version of] me. I wasn't real fast when I played but I could still go forehand-backhand on a goalie pretty well. Either in video games or real life. I looked faster in the video game, no doubt.

How difficult was it to record the audio with no real action going on?

There wasn't much of a difference, to be honest.

You and Doc complement each other well in the booth for NBC. What were the difficulties of transferring that rapport to the video game?

It's very easy to work with Doc. Again, there wasn't much of a difference. We had a lot of fun. He's great to be around.

How difficult was it not to have a telestrator and go into depth about a certain play or scenario?

I sure did miss the telestrator. Maybe we can get it in the 2016 game somehow. It's a great teaching tool.

Now that you're signed on for multiple years, what would you like to see in future games?

[Laughs.] Looks like we just covered that. Implement the telestrator.
