A year is a long time.
Last September around this date, we were talking about the series finale of Breaking Bad and Transformers was in Chicago blowing $#!T up.
Also around this time in 2013, we launched RedEye Rundown. Snippy, sarcastic and outright offensive, the Rundown is our attempt to sum up Chicago's week without putting you to sleep. Thanks for watching. Here's a shameless link to our YouTube page.
Now, on to this week. There's booze in it, because isn't there always?
Kids are hilarious. Why? They're paying WAY more money for vinyls at Urban Outfitters--now the self-proclaimed largest record seller in the world--than just going across the street to the local shop. Seriouslywe checked the prices. Also local shops, like Reckless Records, are calling total BS on Urban's claim they sell the most.
It was just not a good week for O'Hare. On Friday, flights from both O'Hare and Midway were grounded because of a fire at a suburban radar facility and a police investigation there. On Thursday, the CTA announced it won't be replacing an escalator damaged in the Blue Line crash until next year. And finally, city officials announced this week that the airport is back on track to become the "world's busiest." Being tops in the world is usually something we celebrate around Chicago, but just thinking about a more crowded O'Hare makes us airsick.
Oh NO, another story that starts with "Millennials are..." What is it this time? Millennials are confused by this thing called a "telephone"? Millennials are the least showered generation? Millennials are screwing up the office coffee?
Wait. NO! This story is actually somewhat positive. It's an interesting read, and takes a look at how Millennials feel about quality of life in Chicago versus previous generations.
Summer is dead, and fest season right along with it. Look at those two bros in the pictured, munching agressively on encased meats. Just look at them. They have not a care in the world. This weekend is your last chance to have that feeling, so don't screw it up. Take a look at our final fest planner and get the hell out there.
It's a Guerilla Gay Bar resurgence. After fizzling a few years ago, an LGBTQ group is bringing its pop-up gay bar concept back. Get the who, what, when, where. The organizers' lips are sealed about a few details, but there's enough to get you excited.
