What clicked: Top stories

Pour one out for encased meats.

If our top stories of last week taught us anything, it's that everyone was looking for a distraction from Hot Doug's last helping of sausage. New movies, a first-time festival and really REALLY strong drinks rounded out some of our most consumed content last week.

In case you missed it, here's what was hot on redeyechicago.com last week.

Hot Doug's

He gone, and so are the lines. Doug Sohn officially closed up shop last week at Hot Doug's, but not before giving us an excellent interview filled with trivia about the sausage joint. Did you know Doug's had a theme song? Or there's a movie coming? Or the number of insane people with Hot Doug's tattoos? If not, catch up here.

Fire Fest

Last week, we previewed what was supposed to be a spectacular display of pyrotechnics, culminating in three huge replica houses burning on the Chicago River. But for the 30,000 people that showed up for the Chicago Fire Festival's finale, it was actually a pretty big disappointment. Preview is above. What went wrong is right here.

Left Behind

'Left Behind,' this year's most hilarious, laugh-out-loud film, is not a comedy at all. As RedEye's movie critic Matt Pais put it in an editorial meeting, "This movie is absolutely terrible, and I really hope you all go see it."

Krewella

Chicago's own EDM act Krewella isn't just dropping beats, they're dropping lawsuits. There's some pretty juicy allegations in the legal battle, and RedEye's Ernest Wilkins rounded up the best.

CAUTION: This link is for serious drinkers only. RedEye's Kate Bernot visited (and probably stumbled out of) Ceres Cafe for her latest "Essentials" column. Want to read about some of Chicago's strongest, most affordable drinks? Of course you do.

*Editor's note: Guess what? RedEye staffers actually frequent Ceres Cafe. And sometimes, when we interpret our audience analytics, it's like we've been drinking there all day. ... OK. Fine. Drinking at Ceres all day is impossible. You'd die.  And we don't analyze traffic reports drunk, but we aren't going to claim scientific accuracy when presenting our top stories either. If it upsets you, I'll meet you for happy hour.
