Hot off the heels of being called America's Best Drinking City by GQ magazine, Chicago has another accolade to brag about. For the first time, two of the city's drinking establishments have landed on an annual ranking billed as The World's 50 Best Bars.
West Loop hotspot The Aviary was named the 13th best bar in the world, beating out other well-known cocktail bars such as New York's PDT (18) and London's 69 Colebrooke Row (23). The Aviary was joined on the list by River North tiki temple Three Dots and a Dash, named the 27th best bar in the world.
This past summer, both The Aviary and Three Dots and a Dash were honored at the annual Tales of the Cocktail festival. Later in August, Aviary head bartender Charles Joly was named World Class Bartender of the Year.
Now in its sixth year, The World's 50 Best Bars rankings were voted on by a group that included more than 300 cocktail industry professionals from around the world.
And what bar did they determine was the world's best? For the third year in a row, the World's Best Bar is Artesian at London's Langham Hotel.
