Light snow was expected Wednesday morning and afternoon, dusting the Chicago area with just under an inch of snow, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid 30s Wednesday before dipping into the mid 20s Wednesday night. There is a slight chance of snow overnight that could turn to flurries after midnight, according to the weather service.
The weather is expected to remain much the same for the rest of the week and into the weekend, with highs in the mid 30s. The National Weather Service is predicting a 40 percent chance of snow of Sunday.
WGN's chief meteorologist Tom Skilling says any snow would result from a system dubbed the "Saskatchewan screamer" coming down from Canada.
That system should bring colder air than the Chicago area enjoyed last weekend. Chicagoans were pleasantly surprised by three consecutive days of temperatures breaking 40 degrees, Skilling noted.
