Since seeing "The Last Five Years" while covering the 2014 Chicago International Film Festival, I've been in shock that I loved a musical. See, I hate musicals. They're annoying and shallow. I'm always open to them and rarely impressed.
But that wasn't the case with "The Last Five Years," a love story that originated at Chicago's Northlight Theatre and now has an official big-screen release date in Chicago: Feb. 20. I've included the UK trailer above (doesn't matter, the same movie's being released everywhere) so you can get a glimpse. And rest assured: This movie is much, much, much better than "Into the Woods." Much.
