As producer and/or director, Judd Apatow is nothing less than a starmaker, elevating the careers of Steve Carell ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin"), Kristen Wiig ("Bridesmaids") and many more into legit movie stardom.
"Trainwreck," opening this summer and written by star Amy Schumer, could do the same for its writer, currently known for her envelope-pushing, sexually focused stand-up and Comedy Central show "Inside Amy Schumer." The movie's first (red band) trailer arrived Wednesday, and though the world may not exactly need another story about commitmentphobia, "Trainwreck," Apatow's first effort since 2012's great, underrated "This is 40" looks both amusing and amusingly random. How many other movies can you name co-starring Tilda Swinton, John Cena and LeBron James?
It will be interesting to see how Schumer fares in a starring role and awesome to see Bill Hader, as Schumer's character's love interest, in another major role following his solid work in "The Skeleton Twins." That movie is worth seeing for the Hader/Wiig lip-sync sequence alone.
