Train riders are supposed to benefit from the CTA service changes that start Sunday. Six of the eight train routes are supposed to see more trains during rush hour. Going Public compares the new train schedules to the current train schedules and finds that not all train riders will benefit from these changes but many will.
>> Blue Line
From 7 to 9 a.m., there were be two more trains that leave Forest Park and head north than there are now. From 7 to 9 a.m., there will be three fewer trains that leave O'Hare and head south. Instead, three more trains will depart from Jefferson Park.
>> Brown Line
The same number of trains (14) will leave the Kimball stop to the Loop from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. The number of trains leaving the Loop and heading to Kimball from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. will decrease from six trains to four.
>> Green Line
The same number of trains will leave the Ashland/63rd station heading north between 8 and 9 a.m. as there are now (four). The number of trains leaving the Cottage Grove station from 8 to 9 a.m. also will not change (three). The number of trains leaving Harlem/Lake and heading eastbound and southbound between 7:10 and 8:30 a.m. will increase from 10 trains to 11 trains.
>> Orange Line
Orange Line trains heading north will see an additional train between 3 and 5:30 p.m., and an additional train heading south from Clark and Lake between 4 and 6:20 p.m.
>> Purple Line Express
There will be one additional train that runs during morning rush and one that runs during afternoon rush.
>> Red Line
The intervals between trains decrease during the afternoon and late evenings from 8 to 9 minutes to 7 to 8 minutes.
