McDonalds is hoping you'll make it a McChristmas this year. The fast-food restaurant is urging its franchise owners to stay open on Christmas Day. So, will they oblige and keep deep-frying all day on what is almost undeniably the most celebrated holiday in America?
A company rep said that whether or not your neighborhood McDonalds will remain open is up to its owner. There is no official company policy; even corporate locations (the ones owned by McDonald's, not an individual franchise owner) are governed by corporate owner/operators who will decide the Christmas Day fate of their particular store. If an owner chooses to keep his or her location open, hours of operation are at that person's discretion, and employees cannot be required to work. A rep for McDonald's said that most locations have chosen to stay open.
Despite the lack of company mandate, several Chicago locations will stay open--some all day, some with shortned hours.
Here are the addresses of a few local McDonald's that will continue to serve up Big Macs on Dec. 25.
>> 23 S. Clark: Open 5 a.m. - 10 p.m.
>> 36 W Randolph: Open 8 a.m. -9 p.m.
>> 225 S. Canal St.: Open 5 a.m. - 5 p.m.
>> 201 N. Clark: Open regular hours
>> 500 W. Madison St.: Open 6 a.m. - 3 p.m.
>> 405 N Wabash: Open 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
>> 600 N Clark: Open 24 hours
>> 645 N. McClurg Ct.: Open 5 a.m. - noon (will close at 7 pm on Christmas Eve)
>> 1563 N. Wells: Open 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
>> 10 E. Chicago: Open 24 hours
>> 1664 S. Blue Island: Open 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
