The first clinic in Chicago to exclusively offer IV treatments opened its doors this past weekend, and the clientele were mostly the over-served.
Jack Dybis, a Chicago surgeon, said about 75 percent of the approximately 40 clients that visited the Revive clinic this past weekend and during a special two-day preview sought treatment for hangovers. The clinic, at 222 W. Ontario St. in River North, is the first of its kind in Chicago, and offers intravenous treatments for a variety of health issues including hangovers, extreme athletic fatigue and the flu.
The procedure consists of a special formula of prescription drugs, vitamins and saline solution that is prepared based on a patient's symptoms. The treatment takes about an hour, with a $99 payment due at the conclusion.
Dybis said that while most of the patrons so far have sought a quick hangover cure, he hopes to expand beyond that market.
"I think it has to do with this time of year, with the holidays and all the parties people throw," he said. "After the first of the year (however), more people that are sick, in the spring and summer, more people will come in for athletic reasons."
Dybis also said that he plans to take the treatments outside the clinic. He has already talked to several Mixed Martial Arts fighters that have said they would want the treatment in their hotel rooms, and that it's possible he'll set up shop at hotels where large conferences are being held.
"A lot of Chicago likes to play hard and work hard," he said. "We're finding a lot of or patients have a lot of needs."
