Get a taste of some serious out-of-town talent as Christina Tosi (New York's Momofuku Milk Bar) and Rosio Sanchez (Copenhagen's Noma) join Blackbird's Dana Cree and three other female pastry chefs to whip up sweet and savory courses at the Killing Me Sweetly benefit. The celebration of women in the restaurant industry includes wine, cocktail pairings and a braised oxtail entree from Trenchermen's chefs. $100. RSVP recommended. 6:30 p.m.

Get in some good laughs as 130 groups from around the country flock to Lakeview for the 12th annual Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, which runs Thursdays through Sundays through Jan. 13. At the kickoff, you can catch performances by musical sketch revue Half Way Certain and a solo show from Chicago comedian Paul Thomas. $14. 8, 9 and 10 p.m.
