Chicago loves a good summer festival, and now there's another to add to the list.
The Chicago Uptown Lakefront Carnival and Entertainment Festival will launch this summer. If all goes according to plan, it'll be a yearly event.
John Howard manages operations for Inside Your Chicago, the group that is organizing the event. According to Howard, the event will honor and benefit Chicago's heroes.
"We don't believe police, firemen and veterans get the respect they deserve," he said.
The festival kicks off June 20 and runs until July 7, from Lawrence to Wilson, from Lakeshore Drive to Lake Michigan.
The festival boasts free admission and activities for all ages. Children will enjoy kid-friendly activities, games and bands, and senior citizens can play games of Bingo. There will also be music, arts and crafts, food and drinks, a gay pride stage, and rides for the adults.
"It's a festival for everyone," Howard said.
Inside Your Chicago is still selecting bands and vendors for the event. Presale tickets for rides will be made available closer to the event (guests can also opt to just pay $4/ride or can purchase tickets and ride unlimited rides for a time frame at the event).
