In case you were wondering, it really is Sammy Sosa, the real Sammy Sosa, on social media.
Rebecca Polihronis, marketing manager for Injex 21, a company that makes needle-free technology for drugs that are injected, confirmed Thursday that the former Cubs star has joined the image-sharing site Pinterest. Sosa is the CEO of Injex 21.
"We're learning social media, we're not pros at it yet, but we're working on it," she said, also confirming that Twitter user @TheRealMr609, though unverified by the site, is authentic. She added that she and Sosa manage the Twitter account.
The account appears to have been created in October, and Thursday sports site deadspin.com pointed out its existence. Sosa quickly picked up hundreds of followers in a matter of hours. There hasn't been too much activity on Sosa's Pinterest, with the vast majority of the images shared depicting him in various poses in three outfits. All have the same caption, though.
"Sammy Sosa. Yes, I'm the real Sammy Sosa, and this is my Pinterest."
