He hit 609 home runs and created one grand slam of a Pinterest page. Now, former Cub Sammy Sosa wants to answer any and all questions that you might have.
Sosa announced on his Facebook page that he'll be hosting a live webcast today at noon, broadcasting to the masses live from Ft. Lauderdale.
So why's he doing something like this now? His spokesperson Maggie Curran says he wants to prove to the internet that he's more real than Lennay Kekua.
"After getting involved with social media Sammy realized he had many fans that were trying to reach out to him," Curran said. "His Facebook page, The Official Sammy Sosa, has really taken off with fans leaving questions. Rather than try to answer everyone individually, Sammy wants to do it in real time. It's also the definitive way to show that, yes, 'I am the real Sammy Sosa.'"
Sosa, who was recently denied election to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility after receiving only 12.5 percent of the vote, has a pair of businesses including Injex 21, a company that makes needle free technology for drugs that are injected, and Riverhead Homes.
Curran said Sosa isn't planning on answering a set number of questions but will respond to as many as he has time for, including a mix of questions that have been submitted via his social media channels as well as answering questions in real time.
As for what he's planning on covering, Curran says that's really up to what the fans want to know and what Sammy wants to answer.
"We think that any questions that are obviously meant to be hurtful should be off limits, but Sammy is in charge," she said. "People want to know lots of things about his baseball career, his personal life, his businesses, his opinions."
