Underwear run returns to Chicago

Some very cold people will take to the streets of Chicago on Feb. 9, clad in nothing but their underwear and going for a run.

This particular run will not be for their health, though, but for the health of others. Cupid's Undie Run, now in its fourth year, benefits those afflicted with neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes nerve tissue throughout the body to grow tumors and can cause disabilities, chronic pain and cancer, among other things. All proceeds will go to the Children's Tumor Foundation to battle neurofibromatosis.

The mile-long run was founded in 2010 by Chad Leathers and a group of his friend to help Drew Leathers, his brother who became a parapelegic that year while fighting NF. Since then, the event has raised more than $400,000 and spread to 17 U.S. cities and Sydney, Australia, this year.

There will be parties before and after the run, which carries a $30 registration fee for individuals. Interested people can also start or join their own team. All proceeds raised after the registration fee go to the CTF.
