The TV guide to dating men

Hey, ladies: Want to know one of the fastest ways to find out what the man sitting across from you on your first date is all about? Ask about his TV viewing habits. Allow me to give you a little insight with some possible answers.

ESPN

It's true: Most of us are addicted to the godsend that is ESPN. But there are shades of gray. If he's a "Sports Center" guy, he'd be willing to bypass the game to spend some quality time with you, as long as you let him catch the highlights. If "First Take" is more his speed, expect more than a few arguments in your relationship, if you ever get to that point.

"The Bachelor"

He'll definitely charm you, but you may as well settle in for lipstick on the collar, random underwear in the glove compartment and calls from numbers that you don't know.

Any "Real Housewives" show

Find the exit. Quick!

"Community"

He's got a sense of humor. You can look forward to more than a few laughs, and he probably is a caring individual. He also may be secretly enrolled in junior college.

"Game of Thrones"

This isn't the guy who's going to take long walks in the park, wear matching outfits and do cutesy stuff too often. He actually may have a medieval fetish, so don't be surprised if he asks you to wear corsets made out of exotic materials-like the pelt of an extinct animal.

"Hoarders"

Probably really fun to hang out with. Just don't expect his apartment to be spick-and-span.

"Family Guy"

This dude obviously appreciates the classics. Marriage material alert!

"Dr. Oz"

If you're into health and fitness, this guy may be for you. He'll hit the gym with you, run alongside you on Lake Shore Drive in the summer months and enter Tough Mudder with you. The only drawback is he'll constantly diagnose you with everything from strep throat to shingles.

"Dancing With the Stars"

This is the guy you want to take to a party. He'll impress all of your friends by performing awkward but full-effort dance moves and may even own a sparkly vest or two. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you.
