RedEye asked former Bears lineman Anthony Adams (@spiceadams) to give us his keys to enjoying the Super Bowl, and he did not disappoint.
DISCLAIMER: ALL OF THESE THINGS MEAN THAT I WILL NOT GET OUT OF MY SEAT FOR THE WHOLE DURATION OF THE SUPER BOWL!! AND YES LADIES, THIS MEANS PRE-GAME AS WELL!!
1) Get food
Every supermarket has some type of Super Bowl sale. Every place that delivers has some type of Super Bowl special and its awesome. I'm a big man and I love to eat. When the Super Bowl rolls around then I know I am going to have to start my diet #NextWeekDoe because I am going to eat enough for at least 6 regular-sized patrons. Sometimes I get out on the grill and smoke some chicken (wings or beer-can chicken, either/or it's delicious), or I'll just order some pizzas with buffalo wings. My menu would include all of the basic food groups to keep it nutritious:
BACON
BACON
BACON
RICE KRISPIES TREATS
BUFFALO WINGS
PIZZA
CHEESE STICKS
MAYBE A SALAD
KOOL-AID
JUICE
POP
FAYGO
DAD'S ROOT BEER
TANG
OVALTINE
BETTER MADE CHIPS (FROM DETROIT, THE HOT FLAVOR)
GOLDFISH
TORTILLA CHIPS W/ SALSA (PREFERABLY TOSTITOS WITH A HINT OF LIME AND SOME TYPE OF PEACH SALSA)
DORITOS
POP CHIPS (BBQ)
and
BACON
2) Watch commercials
I love to watch the commercials during TV timeouts or anytime during the Super Bowl. They are hilarious! I can't get enough of the E-Trade babies, Doritos, or the monkeys from Career Builder. The commercials ensure that I will not get up from my chair at anytime for thee entirety of the game.
3) Watch Game
You have to WATCH the game. Every part of it: The introductions, the coin toss, the flashes from cameras, the kickoff, the first play, the punt, the field goal, the sideline, everything. I'm literally engulfed in this game.
You have to watch the game with people who are rooting for the same team you are. There is nothing worse than being at a place full of people who want the other team to win. For instance, the Bears vs Packers game. If you are in a room full of Bears fans and there is one Packers fan, then politely tell that person to watch it in another room.
4) Log on to Twitter (follow @spiceadams)
Twitter is the funniest place to follow games. You can find out who or what is trending in the world and comment on it. Usually it is something so ridiculous that gets the attention of millions. For instance, Jim Harbaugh's mustache could be a trending topic and before the game even ends someone will create a Twitter handle entitled @JimHarbaughsMustache and it will have 100,000 followers. Its great! Not only is that great, the reactions and ReTweets from the game give you insight and/or will have you in tears from laughter.
5) Watch halftime show
The halftime show is fairly important as well. The halftime show this year definitely will attract a lot of men!! Beyonnnnccccceeeeeee!!! It's great entertainment and it's like a 2 for 1 special. You get a great game for two quarters and then you get a concert after that. It's genius!!! It's a win/win situation!!
6) Watch Postgame Interviews/Analysis
The postgame interviews are great. You get a chance to hear what the MVP had to say about the game, or you get to see how your favorite player reacts to his win or loss. It is very AWESOME. The confetti comes down, the winning team is celebrating, and the losing team wants to karate chop every strip of confetti that comes down from the sky. It's awesomeness. The analysts break down the game by referring to the most critical plays and you come out with a better understanding of what just happened.
