Two Chicagoans are hoping their new niche venture is the full package.

Adam Freck and Andrew Volk have launched Meggings Man, an online shop where they're selling male leggings of all sizes and colors. With offices in the Loop, the business launched Dec. 15 after a year of research and development into leggings made specifically for men.

"We've taken the male physique, if you will, into mind while designing them," said Volk, 31, of Lakeview, noting the extra fabric in the hips and waist for their meggings. Their online shop features more than a dozen styles, including metallic, American flag, camouflage and checkered meggings.

"You see women wearing leggings all the time around Lincoln Park," said Freck, 31, of Lincoln Park. "There's a reason for that and a lot of it has to do with comfort."

Freck and Volk said they don't expect every male in Chicago to be a convert to meggings, but they have been surprised at sales so far. Some styles--which range from about $29 to $39--are already on backorder, and the demographic ordering them is beyond the 18 to 25 demographic they were expecting.

The pair said they eventually intend to start selling their products in boutique stores around Chicago.

"Really, it's such an eye-catching product, we've gotten great results," Freck said.
