The busy Boystown nightlife hub at Belmont Avenue and Halsted Street has been quieter since the closing of Spin nightclub in late May, but the intersection is poised for a change.
Whiskey Trust tavern at 3206 N. Halsted St. and Chloe's nightclub at 800 W. Belmont Ave. are set to open Thursday, June 19 in separate parts of the former Spin space. The two represent the first hospitality ventures for owner Jason Zilberbrand, an aviation salesman.
Whiskey Trust's food and beverage menus focus on two proprietary spirits, distilled specifically for the tavern at Koval Distillery in Ravenswood. The first is a rye-millet blend whiskey; the second is a small-batch vodka. Cocktails and food items, such as a pickled beet torchon made with Trust vodka, are designed to highlight the two liquors.
Whiskey Trust's interior includes a 40-seat oval bar, salvaged barn doors, leather couches, copper countertops and a bookshelf that conceals an entrance to a private events space. Out back, a 100-seat garden also will open Thursday, weather permitting.
But not to worry, Spin fans, there's still a nightclub element for you. Chloe's, a two-floor club and lounge, also opens Thursday. The first floor will house a dance floor complete with a 3D-programmed light system and will spotlight future-house beats and '80s and '90s remixes from DJs managed by Crossfader King. A second-floor lounge with leather couches and fireplaces offers a place to take a break from the dance floor. Both sections of Chloe's will remain open until 2 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and 3 a.m. on Saturdays.
