Jet's Pizza touches down in Chicago

A new deep dish is coming to town ... and it's kind of a square.

Jet's Pizza, the beloved Michigan brand best known for its square pizza, will open its first Chicago location at the beginning of December, according to David Falato of Prism Ventures.  Falato is one of three managing partners in this franchise.

The new location will come to 2811 N. Ashland in Lakeview Commons.

Falato said he chose to open this franchise because Prism Ventures feels strongly about bringing new brands to Chicago. He sensed the "good buzz around the company. " (Don't get too excited by the mention of the word "buzz," though. Jet's won't serve alcohol.)

The good news is, you don't have to be from Michigan to appreciate Jet's. None of the guys at Prism Ventures are, but they immediately took to Jet's.

"We just really loved the pizza," Falato said.

The demographics of the North Side made it an obvious choice for the new location. Falato called it a "fun area," saying that the abundance of students makes it a perfect area for a pizza place. Falato also said that there seems to be a lot of ex-Michigan residents in the area who will likely be excited about the arrival of the Michigan favorite.

The Jet's location will be the first within Chicago's city limits--and according to Falato, it may even be the city's premiere place for square pizza, although there are already 16 Illinois locations.

So, yes, it might be "hip to be square" soon.
