Oh, you thought Lollapalooza was a strange festival name? Prepare for Great GoogaMooga.

The hybrid food and music festival, which debuted last year in Brooklyn's Prospect Park, is in talks with the City of Chicago to bring a version of its weekend-long festival to Montrose Beach.

While Superfly, the entertainment company that produces Brooklyn's GoogaMooga, "cannot confirm" a Chicago offshoot, the Park District said it is in talks with organizers.

Chicago Park District permit records show that Jam Entertainment, the company that orchestrates Beer Hoptacular, has applied for 44 event permits for Montrose Beach and the surrounding area for dates ranging from August 18 to August 28.

Tressa Feher, chief of staff for alderman James Cappleman, whose 46th Ward includes the area around Montrose Beach, said the alderman's office was aware that the festival was considering that location for a summer event.

Chatter within Chicago's culinary community indicates that the festival is a done deal. In NYC, the May 17-19 festival will feature 175 beers and wines, plus musical headliners Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Flaming Lips and Matt & Kim, as well as big-name restaurant and food vendors such as Colicchio & Sons, Eataly and Momofuku Milk Bar.

Thus far, the potential Chicago lineup of musical acts and chefs has not been released.
